* An in-network physical therapist gets paid so little by an insurance company that they can only spend 15-minutes or so with you. When you divide the cost of your co-pay by the amount of time the physical therapist spends with you, your cost is actually more per minute when you see an in-network physical therapist.
Unfortunately, you spend less time with a licensed physical therapist when you receive treatment in an in-network clinic. Most treatment is provided by a tech/aide.
When you see an out-of-network physical therapist, you will spend more time face-to-face with the physical therapist. Therefore, your therapist can update your treatment in real-time which usually means you recover faster and in fewer visits (saving you travel time as well).
